Josemaría Rodríguez Conca

Legal Fellow

Josemaria Rodríguez is currently working as a Fellow for the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations, handling international human rights and international law matters for the Holy See at the United Nations system. He is a Chilean human rights lawyer admitted to the bar in Chile with a decade of rich legal experience, having served as former Head of the Department of Human Rights Protection Systems at the Ministry of Justice of Chile, senior counsel at the Chilean Government's Undersecretariat of Human Rights, and Chile's Ministry of External Relations. In these capacities, he supervised and directed teams of government counsels in representing the Government of Chile in human rights cases before international courts and tribunals, such as the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, and United Nations treaty bodies.

Josemaria holds graduate degrees from Notre Dame Law School (Class of 2022 LL.M. in International Human Rights Law, with honors), the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom (Class of 2018 Master of Science in International Relations), and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Juris Doctor, Class of 2012). He also has a postgraduate diploma in international studies from Universidad de Chile's Instituto de Estudio Internacionales, as well as a certificate in English as a Foreign Language from Georgetown University.
